Oxygen bleach: everything you need to know about the product

Oxygen bleach is a modern stain-fighting solution, but there are still many questions surrounding it. Does it really effectively cope with pollution? Does it harm tissues, how to use and store it? How is oxygen bleach different from regular bleach? In a new article, YokoSun explains everything you need to know about the product.

How does oxygen bleach work?

Modern oxygen bleaches do not use chlorine. Their active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide or the well-known hydrogen peroxide. This compound breaks down into water and oxygen, and the bubbles released in the process break down and push out contaminants. The salts contained soften the water, which makes clothing care more effective.

Manufacturers often add other components to the active substance that enhance the effect, flavors or optical brightener. But the essence of the process remains the same: oxygen interacts with contaminant molecules, cleaning and even brightening and disinfecting the fabric.

Oxygen bleaches are usually produced in powder form, but in the YokoSun line you will also find a liquid product. Its composition is practically the same, but it is more convenient to use.

How is it different from regular bleaches?

Oxygen bleaches do not contain chlorine - and this is its significant difference. The fact is that chlorine is an aggressive substance that not only disinfects, but can also destroy fabrics and coatings. It is also dangerous for humans: it can cause burns and allergic reactions.

That is why oxygen bleaches, unlike ordinary ones, are considered environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic. They do not have a pungent chemical odor and can be used even for delicate fabrics and colored items, while chlorine bleaches noticeably dry out the fabric, which leads to rapid wear of the products.

What can you wash with oxygen bleach?

Due to the fact that this bleach does not destroy the fiber structure, it can be used for washing even delicate fabrics. Moreover, unlike chlorine-containing products, environmentally friendly oxygen bleach is suitable for washing colored items; it is also compatible with cleaning powders or gels.

  1. Washing and soaking

For greater effect, the item can be soaked with the addition of oxygen bleach. For example, YokoSun Express Effect liquid bleach can be applied to the stain without adding water and left for 10-15 minutes. This will enhance the effect, which will be noticeable immediately after washing.

  1. Carpet and furniture cleaning

Oxygen bleaches do an excellent job of removing fresh stains, including street dirt. Add 50 ml of bleach to hot water and apply the product to the carpet. In the case of furniture, the solution can be applied pointwise, left for 5-10 minutes and rinsed thoroughly with water. If the product does not work the first time, apply it again.

  1. Fungus removal

You already know that oxygen bleaches also have a disinfectant and bactericidal effect. Therefore, it can be used to clean curtains in the bathroom - the material will definitely not be damaged.

Oxygen bleach can be used to care for your baby's bathtub or bath toys. It will cope with cleansing and is guaranteed not to cause allergies in the baby.

  1. Trays or feeders for pets

Again, due to its environmental friendliness and safety, oxygen bleach can be suitable for caring for pet trays or bowls. Apply the solution to items and then rinse them thoroughly with water.

How to use oxygen bleach correctly?

Oxygen is released more actively at high temperatures, for example, in hot water. But if the fabrics are delicate, the temperature regime must be selected based on the information on the labels.

  • For soaking

100 ml or one scoop of product per three liters of hot water - for everyday or fresh stains. 200 ml or two measuring spoons of the product per three liters of water - for complex or old stains.

  • Machine washable

100 ml or one scoop of product per 4-5 kilograms of laundry. Double the amount of product if the stains on your clothes are complex or old.

  • For hand washing

100 ml or one measuring spoon per 10 liters of water for fresh stains, and twice as much product with the same volume of water for old stains.

  • For cleaning surfaces

50 ml or half a scoop of product per 500 ml of warm water for use on contaminated surfaces.

How to store oxygen bleach?

Oxygen bleaches quickly lose their effect in high temperatures or humidity. Under such conditions, oxygen is actively released, which makes the product ineffective when used. Therefore, it should be stored away from the sun and in dry places.

Do not mix the product with vinegar or other home remedies (besides powders, gels, fabric softeners). This may cause an unwanted chemical reaction.

Oxygen bleaches are quite safe, but you should use gloves if you have prolonged contact with the product. Do not allow the product to come into contact with the mucous membranes and store it out of the reach of children.
