Lifehacks for caring for school uniforms, or how to save on dry cleaning

Whatever appears on a student’s clothes: greasy stains, marks from pens or felt-tip pens. At the same time, a school uniform is a rather whimsical thing when it comes to washing it. Separate rules apply to sportswear. Even more questions arise when stains appear, for example, on a briefcase. How to take care of all this and maintain a neat appearance of the school uniform?

YokoSun offers several life hacks that will help you save on dry cleaning.

1. General rules

The fresher the stain, the easier it is to get rid of it. It happens that a child is prone to neatness and independently notices that dirt has appeared on his clothes. Some children, on the contrary, do not see that the uniform is dirty. And this is not at all a reason to scold a child. And to make caring for things easier, it is better to inspect the student’s clothes. If the contamination is simple (dried dirt, for example), we get rid of it on the same day.

Before throwing the mold into the washing machine, it is better to read the label from the manufacturer. This rule is often neglected - and in vain. If an item survives one incorrect wash without noticeable damage, then the second and third times it will lose its neat appearance more and more rapidly.

For example, a school uniform traditionally consists of a basic set: jacket, vest, trousers or skirt. Often such things are sewn from polyester. It is better to wash polyester clothes on a gentle cycle, at a low temperature (not higher than 40 degrees). Otherwise, the item will quickly lose its shape and become covered in pellets.

At the same time, do not be afraid of cleaning products. Modern products will not only help deal with stains more effectively, but are also often more environmentally friendly options than traditional methods. Thus, all YokoSun products are hypoallergenic, suitable even for caring for newborn clothes, and can be used in homes with independent sewerage.

Make sure that there are always wet wipes in your child’s briefcase. You can use them to wipe shoes or hands stained with ink throughout the day - in this case, the likelihood that the paste will get on your clothes is much lower. YokoSun baby sanitary napkins availablein convenient mini-packages. They do not leave soapy residues and are 99.9% purified water.

2. Marks from a ballpoint pen

Ballpoint pen ink marks are perhaps the most common type of stain that can be found on clothing. Such stains are difficult; regular washing probably won’t remove them. What to do?

There are traditional methods. For example, the contaminated area can be wiped with alcohol. It is better to use cotton pads: place one under the fabric on the back side (then the excess will not spread throughout the item), and soak the other in alcohol and wipe the stain with it. After this, the item needs to be washed in a machine.

3. Grease stains

Grease stains also often appear on a child’s clothes. There are many methods that can help deal with them. And again the folk recipe: a solution of salt and alcohol. You can mix the ingredients in a ratio of 3 to 1 and try to soak the stain with the resulting product.

True, there are much more gentle ways. For example, use a modern product that is also guaranteed not to damage the fabric. Soak the item with Express effect bleach from YokoSun. It is enough to use two spoons of the product per three liters of water - then even old stains will disappear from clothes. The product is suitable for white and colored items.

4. Caring for wool products

A schoolchild’s wardrobe will probably contain cardigans or sweaters. Woolen items are quite easy to wash, but they also get dirty.

First you need to read the information on the tag. If the manufacturer has not indicated that the item cannot be washed in a machine, throw it into the drum, but select the “hand wash” mode. It is important that the water temperature does not rise above 40 degrees, and the spin cycle takes place without high speeds.

Ordinary laundry soap or washing powder can also harm such clothes. What to look for? It is better to use products without alkaline components and chlorine; avoid prolonged soaking, which can cause the product to lose its shape. YokoSun washing gels do not contain chlorine and are gentle wash even the most capricious fabric. And the product is now available in an advantageous format - 5.1 liters. This volume is enough for more than 210 washes.

An important nuance: items made of wool require the use of fabric softener. They seem to envelop the threads and smooth them out. YokoSun fabric softener not only cares for the material, but also leaves a pleasant fresh aroma on clothes.

It is better to dry such products horizontally and store them on shelves. This way they won't lose their shape.

5. Sportswear

The difficulty in caring for sportswear usually lies in the fact that it is made of a membrane. But it is on sportswear that complex stains, for example, traces of grass, often appear.

Membrane fabric seems very durable and wear-resistant, but has its own limitations when it comes to care. The fact is that such material retains moisture due to special impregnation, which can be damaged under the influence of aggressive chemical components.

Suitable for sportswearliquid stain remover "Express effect" from YokoSun. The active ingredient - hydrogen peroxide - cleans the fabric, but does not affect the waterproof impregnation.

6. Backpack and fabric pencil case

A school backpack is usually spot cleaned. But crumbs often accumulate in backpacks and create an unpleasant odor. Such items can also be completely washed, either by hand or in a washing machine, depending on the manufacturer’s recommendations.

In the production of backpacks, water-repellent impregnation is also used, so we again do not recommend using aggressive agents. If the backpack has a print, it is better to turn it inside out, after treating the stains with a stain remover.

It is better to wash the briefcase in a gentle mode with a water temperature no higher than 30 degrees. There are products that can cope with persistent stains even in cold water - gel concentrate YokoSun. It will not only get rid of stains, preserving the appearance of the product, but also give it a subtle aroma: sakura, crocus, cotton or edelweiss. The child will be delighted.
