Clutter in the kitchen: 5 simple steps to help get rid of visual noise

Visual noise is a accumulation of various kinds of objects, most often unnecessary, in one room. It not only deprives the space of aesthetics, but even affects fatigue. The thing is that the brain processes different signals, including accumulated junk. The more diverse visual signals there are, the faster he gets tired.

We are used to piling up and becoming cluttered: they give us something, we buy something in an emotional outburst, and something is simply difficult to throw away. As a result, accumulated things complicate life. They are difficult to store, and even more difficult to find what you need.

Usually the most difficult situation with clutter is in the kitchen. The notorious bag of bags is stored here, as well as multi-colored mugs or sets donated by acquaintances, as well as pots in the oven and many, many other things. Let's figure out how to get rid of visual noise in the kitchen once and for all with YokoSun.

1. Let's prepare mentally

It often seems that it is simply impossible to sort out the accumulated mess. And if there are children at home, then they give up on their own - there is not enough time for general cleaning, what kind of organization is the space?

But a simple rule works here: you need to start small. Prepare yourself for the fact that organizing the space will take a while, and this is normal. It is enough to move from zone to zone. Today - cutlery, tomorrow or in a week - we will deal with cereals. So gradually and without investing enormous effort, trash will give way to order and convenience.

2. We divide things by frequency of use

First, it’s worth figuring out which things you use all the time, which ones you use occasionally, and which ones you don’t need at all. For example, in a drawer with cutlery you can often find everything: forks, a ladle, a corkscrew, and a bunch of other small things.

Forks are probably used more often than a corkscrew or a ladle. This means that cutlery should remain visible and literally every family member should be able to find it. But other items can be stored separately. For example, in the same box, but in a separate section.

We don’t use some things at all. Unfortunately, we need to admit this and then simply get rid of them. If it’s difficult to say goodbye to such items, you can choose a separate drawer and the most inconvenient shelf for them.

Optimize storage to suit your family's needs. For example, if there are small children in the house, it is better to store dangerous items in high cabinets.

3. Organizers really work

In conditions where space is limited and the number of items tends to infinity, organizers can help put things in order - special boxes (and not only) with divisions into sections. With their help, you can sort things by purpose and frequency of use.

And organizers can also help save space. For example, there are vertical ones for storing pots, pans and lids. Dishes are stacked vertically in drawers (like in a dishwasher) - this makes them much more convenient to store.

Various types of containers will save the kitchen from color noise. Most often it is created not only by colorful household items, but also by packaging. You can store cereals in containers - this, by the way, will eliminate the risk of insects appearing in it. For convenience, such jars can be signed using stickers, and some are already sold with signature stickers. Depending on your preferences, you can store literally everything in containers: from vegetables to household chemicals, for example, dishwasher capsules.

4. Light and decor may change

When order has already settled on the shelves, it’s time to look at the kitchen as a whole. What else distracts your attention? Maybe it's the magnets on the refrigerator? Or colorful towels and oven mitts that hang on hooks? No matter how difficult it may be, it’s better to get rid of small multi-colored parts too.

If you have not immersed yourself in the intricacies of interior design, then you can follow a simple rule: 75% of the color in the room is the main color, 25% are companion colors (those that combine with the main one), and 5% are color accents.

Lighting also plays a role. It is believed that cold light spoils the appearance of food, so preference may be given to neutral white or warm lighting. The space is enlivened by the presence of several light sources. For example, an additional lamp can be placed above the work area and the dining table area.

5. Limit purchases and stay organized

Once the space in the kitchen is organized, it is necessary to maintain order. Most likely, this will be easy to do - precisely thanks to the organization of the process according to the principle “we use it - we don’t use it.” Family members will also be able to intuitively understand what needs to be put away and where after use. Enter the rule: if you use it, put it back in its place. This way you will learn yourself and show family members that order is a matter of habit.

Limit purchases. A nice towel or colorful mug may not fit in your kitchen. Select new items based on the principles of usefulness and visual compatibility with the interior.

These steps are simple and universal. They can be applied to any room in the house: bathroom or hallway. The main thing is the desire to make the house cozy and comfortable for yourself and all family members. Then everything will definitely work out.
