Nobody likes a mess. But what to do if putting things in order takes a lot of time, and sometimes you just can’t force yourself to start cleaning? YokoSun has prepared some simple but effective tips that will make cleaning your home easier.
1. Try not to make a mess
Yes, let's start with the most banal. To prevent every cleaning from turning into a general cleaning, try to maintain order every day. Sometimes a mess is caused by improper organization of space - for example, an item that you use every day is stored in a hard-to-reach place. Once you take out and use this item, you most likely will not return it to its place. Think about how convenient things are stored and how you can change this.
Sometimes just additional trash cans help maintain order. For example, in the bathroom or even the living room. This way, the used cotton pad will not remain lying on the edge of the sink, but will go straight to the trash.
Place a pack of wet wipes in visible places in each room. This way you can immediately wipe the surfaces from dust or the consequences of careless movements.
Teach all family members to put things in their place. If there are children in the house, tell them why it is important to tidy up. Typically, three-year-old children are already trying to imitate adults, so turn cleaning into an entertaining game.
2. Don't be cluttered
If it’s difficult for you to keep your house clean, try to reduce the amount of decor. Often even the most beautiful things do not perform any practical function, but dust settles on them.
It is even more difficult to find the right place to store them. As a result, decorative items accumulate in one place, and the more things there are, the more difficult it is to put them in order. In addition, it simply creates visual noise, which, by the way, makes us tired faster.
Try to limit yourself in purchasing decorative items. Conduct an audit: sometimes it’s better to say goodbye to some things.
3. Use smart technology
If you hate cleaning your floors, a robot vacuum can make cleaning a lot easier. Most modern models are detergent; it is enough to run the vacuum cleaner several times a week, and you will have to wash the floors much less often.
And some vacuum cleaners are launched through an application - your participation in cleaning may not be required at all.
4. Break the cleaning into several stages
Small and simple tasks are easier to complete than trying to tackle a large amount of work at once. Approach the process from this position: mentally outline a cleaning plan.
For example, first we clean the bedroom, and later (maybe even the next day) we will put things in order in the living room or kitchen. It's even better to divide responsibilities between family members.
Try to clear clockwise, moving from zone to zone in a circle. This way you definitely won’t miss anything, but you won’t waste time on chaotic movements.
5. Choose good products
If cleaning itself is a burden, then you should stock up on products that will not cause discomfort, and even better, you will like it, at least visually. The process will become a little more enjoyable.
The quality of the cleaning products also plays a role: the more effective the product, the less effort you need to put in. For example, you won’t have to spend a long time cleaning the stove from grease if you use a product that can dissolve it.
6. Clean up with music, audio books or podcasts
When we enjoy our favorite music, our body produces endorphin, which contributes to positive emotions. Even the most mundane tasks, like cleaning, become a little more enjoyable. Therefore, we decided to create a special playlist for you, which will make the cleaning process even more fun.
If you listen to books or podcasts, you will not only combine business with pleasure, but you can also trick your brain a little. He will concentrate less on cleaning, and thus the time will fly faster.
If you are cleaning with your baby, you can include fairy tales for him, which will make the process even more fun. For example, tales of "The Adventures of Yoko" tells young listeners about difficult things in an accessible form.
7. Praise yourself
Rewards help reinforce habits, and cleaning is no exception. When you praise yourself, you once again become convinced that your actions are correct. Even small efforts, such as cleaning the house for 15 minutes, require praise.
Allow yourself something that you usually limit yourself to: portions of sweets or small purchases. If family members helped with cleaning, praise them too, give them a little joy. The likelihood that it will be easier to start cleaning next time will increase exponentially.
Remember! Regular cleaning is not only necessary for aesthetics or comfort, but also directly affects the well-being of all family members. The cleaner the space in which we live, the better our health and the lower the risk of a number of diseases. Take care of what is truly important.
