Your washing machine can last longer if you follow these rules

A washing machine is usually an expensive thing. I would like to extend its service life as much as possible. Often, improper care of the machine leads to breakdowns, malfunctions or early wear. The Russian brand of household chemicals and products for the whole family, YokoSun, talks about simple rules that can extend the life of your washing machine.

1. Regular drum cleaning

All the dirt from clothes, including bacteria, gets into the drum of the washing machine. If you wash clothes for a long time on gentle cycles, at a temperature not exceeding 40°C, residual dirt and detergents will remain in the drum. All this is fraught with the appearance of a characteristic odor, mold and other not very pleasant consequences.

To avoid this, you need to run a “service” wash every two months. The water temperature should be high - 60-90°C. You can use a special drum cleaner.

In addition, after each wash you must leave the machine door open. This way, you will protect the drum from the appearance of mold and fungi.

2. Cleaning the drain filter

Washing machines are equipped with a special drain filter that traps debris that gets into the drum. These can be coins, buttons, threads and hair. Over time, the filter fills up, which can lead to drainage failures or pump failure.

The filter needs to be cleaned approximately every six months. It is located at the bottom of the machine and is usually hidden under a cover. Before removing the filter, you need to drain the accumulated water (place a cloth or small container in advance) and disconnect the machine from the power supply.

3. Caring for the rubber seal of the hatch

There is a rubber seal on the hatch of every washing machine. It prevents water from leaking out of the machine during washing and ensures a tight fit of the lid. Unfortunately, the rubber seal is susceptible to the formation of scale, plaque or mold. And debris can often get stuck in it: hair, buttons, etc.

The seal must be wiped after each wash; it should be washed once a month. If plaque or mold has already formed, try cleaning the gum with a gentle product. For example, a universal cleaner from YokoSun without chlorine and phosphates.

4. Loading laundry according to the rules

Too much laundry wears out the washing machine components faster. We are talking about bearings and shock absorbers, which are subject to excessive pressure. And such washing is simply ineffective: things rotate less, the detergent does not have time to dissolve in the water.

Follow the instructions for loading laundry into the washing machine. Do not load the drum completely: things should occupy approximately 2/3 of its volume.

5. Emptying the detergent tray

The cleaning product tray is another favorite spot for mold and plaque. People often simply forget to take care of it; as a result, clumps of cleaning products form and bacteria get into the drum.

The tray also needs to be washed, for example, once a week, preferably using a cleaning agent. In addition, the tray needs to be dried, just like the door, leave it open after washing.

6. Correct placement of the washing machine

Incorrect installation can cause vibrations and noise during the washing process. This unpleasant consequence will only become apparent over time. The position of the drain hose is often overlooked; as a result, it may become pinched by furniture, which will lead to problems with draining water.

The machine must be on a flat surface, without tilting. If necessary, use anti-vibration stands. Check the hose every six months for damage.

7. Using quality detergents in the correct amount

Poor quality detergents (both powders and gels) can lead to scale formation. They also dissolve poorly in water, forming lumps in the drum and powder tray. Too much product is also fraught with troubles - the remains of even a high-quality product will still form lumps.

Use high-quality and proven laundry detergents that contain aggressive cleaning agents. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for using powders or gels. For example, YokoSun washing gels even in small volumes effectively deal with dirt, and a five-liter package is enough for 210 laundry washes.

Following these simple rules will help keep your washing machine in excellent condition, extend its service life and avoid costly repairs. Regular cleaning, use of high-quality detergents and careful operation are the key to efficient and long-term operation of the machine.
