In cold weather, the body begins to require more satisfying and warming food, and the child’s body is no exception. In addition, school, kindergarten, and clubs begin in the fall, and the child needs to get much more energy from food. How can you diversify a child’s diet so that the food is not only healthy and satisfying, but also appealing to the child? YokoSun has prepared a selection of delicious and simple dishes that dad or even a child can prepare.
Children's favorite dishes
All children are different and their taste preferences are also different. One sits down at the table with pleasure, no matter what is offered to him, another demands culinary delights, the third refuses everything except pasta. Be that as it may, there are combinations that most children will surely like. The most common is potatoes with chicken. But how to prepare them so that the baby does not become capricious?
-
Homemade baby sausages
We must admit: children love convenience foods, but it’s not always possible to find high-quality products on store shelves. It’s better to cook them yourself, and it’s not difficult.
You will need:
-
Minced chicken (500 g)
-
Milk (1 glass)
-
Egg (1 pcs.)
-
Chopped onion (to taste)
-
Salt (to taste)
-
Cling film
You need to mix the minced chicken with all the ingredients. Spread cling film on a cutting board and start laying out the resulting minced meat - two tablespoons per sausage. Roll the film with minced meat like candy, folding the ends and tying the edges into a knot. Shape with your hands and make sure there are no large bubbles in the film.
Cook the resulting sausages in boiling water for about 20-25 minutes.
-
Country-style potatoes
The secret of tasty and aromatic potatoes in the oven is in the golden crust and spices. It is also important that the main ingredient of the dish - potatoes - be young and dense.
You will need:
-
Potatoes (1 kg)
-
Olive oil (3 tablespoons)
-
Flour (1 tablespoon)
-
Salt, paprika and dried garlic (to taste)
-
Baking parchment
Peel the potatoes, cut them into slices and dry with a paper towel. Then add butter, flour, salt and spices to the bowl with potatoes (we recommend adding one tablespoon of garlic and paprika). Mix the contents as thoroughly as possible so that the spices cover every piece.
Place the potatoes on parchment and place in the oven for 35 minutes at 200 degrees.
Dad's Dishes
In some families, dad feels quite confident in the kitchen and pleases his family with delicious dishes. Some, on the contrary, are not at all used to cooking. But there are dishes that both an experienced cook and a novice cook can repeat. And dad’s dishes based on these recipes will definitely please the child, as well as the whole family.

Homemade burgers
Fast food can be healthy – if it’s a homemade burger with a chicken cutlet. Instead of mayonnaise-based sauces, you can make sour cream.
You will need:
-
Grain bun (4 pcs.)
-
Minced chicken (400 g)
-
Onions
-
Tomato (1 piece)
-
Cucumber 1 (pcs.)
-
Lettuce leaves
-
Hard cheese
-
Sour cream (100 g)
-
Chicken egg (3 pcs.)
You should start by preparing the sauce. Hard boil two eggs and then separate the whites from the yolks. The latter must be thoroughly mashed with a fork, then beaten, adding sour cream and salt.
When the sauce is ready, move on to the cutlets. Mix minced chicken with egg, onion and salt. Form into patties about 1 centimeter thick. The diameter of the cutlet should be slightly larger than the diameter of the bun, because the cutlets will shrink during frying. Fry the cutlets using a small amount of oil on each side.
Thinly slice the tomato, cucumbers and cheese. Cut the buns in half and lightly brown them in a clean, preheated frying pan, cut side down. Brush both halves of the buns with the resulting sauce and begin assembling the burger. Place a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, a cutlet, cheese, and cucumber. Cover the resulting burger with the top half of the bun.
-
Pasta with bacon and broccoli
Not all children like vegetables, but you can make them almost invisible in the dish. For example, if you use broccoli as a pasta sauce.
You will need:
-
Pasta (200 g)
-
Broccoli (4-5 florets)
-
Curd cheese (2-3 tablespoons)
-
Bacon (100 g)
-
Salt and spices (to taste)
First, boil the broccoli by dipping the cabbage in boiling water for 7-8 minutes. Then use a blender. Place the cheese, salt and spices in a bowl, grind the ingredients until smooth.
Boil the pasta and separately, without using oil, fry the bacon, drying it slightly. Then cut the bacon into slices. Add the resulting sauce, broccoli and bacon to the pasta, stir the resulting paste.
Even children can cook
Sometimes children themselves show interest in cooking. Let your child feel like a real cook; perhaps this will turn into a serious hobby in adulthood.
YokoSun already talked about when you can involve your child in cooking, and gave tips on how to make the process fun, inthis article. And now we have prepared several simple recipes for delicious dishes that even a child can repeat.
-
Hot dog
Prepare all the ingredients in advance so that the child can assemble the hot dog himself, filling it with the foods he likes.
You will need:
-
Grain bun (1 piece)
-
Chicken sausage (it’s better to cook it yourself, according to the recipe above)
-
Lettuce leaf
-
Grated cheese
-
Egg (2 pcs.)
-
Sour cream (20%)
-
Salt and spices (to taste)
First, boil the sausages by placing them in water for 20-25 minutes. Prepare homemade sour cream sauce according to the recipe you already know: chop the boiled yolks with a fork, mix with sour cream and spices.
Cut the bun (not all the way, so that its edges remain connected), prepare the remaining ingredients: grate the cheese, rinse the lettuce.
All that remains is to assemble the hot dog. Entrust this honorable responsibility to your child. Let you choose more products, for example, adding tomatoes, carrots or cabbage to the recipe. Pour the sauce over the resulting hot dog and sprinkle it with cheese.
-
Creamy pasta
Children 8-10 years old can be trusted to prepare an entire dish from start to finish. True, it is necessary that you help the little cook and observe the process. Therefore, it is better to start your first steps with simple dishes - for example, pasta in cream sauce.
You will need:
-
Pasta (300 g)
-
Milk (100 ml)
-
Butter (2 teaspoons)
-
Hard cheese (120 g)
-
Salt, spices (to taste)
Fill the pan with water and put it on the fire. As soon as the water boils, add the pasta and reduce the heat. Cook for about 7-8 minutes.
When everything is ready, use a colander to drain the water. Then return the pasta to the pan and add butter to it. Pour in the milk and turn on the heat.
The cheese must be grated, parents should do this. When the milk has boiled, you can add cheese, stirring the contents of the pan. Remove the pasta from the heat and let it sit for about 5 minutes more until the cheese melts evenly.
A dish prepared by a child on his own will be even tastier. Bon appetit!
